“Let us never forget that authentic power is service. To protect Jesus with Mary, to protect the whole of creation, to protect each person, especially the poorest, to protect ourselves; this is the service that the Bishop of Rome is called to carry out, yet one to which all of us are called, so that the star of hope will shine brightly. Let us protect with love all that God has given us!” – Pope Francis I

At Saint Stanislaus Kostka, we believe we are all called to give back to our church and community, not only through monetary donations, but also with our time dedicated to others in the community.

At Saint Stanislaus Kostka, all grades, from preschool through eighth, engage in charitable efforts throughout the school year. To name a few, the young elementary students take part in creating and sending cards to service men overseas, assisting local civics organizations, and making holiday cards for people in the nursing homes. At Saint Stans, we believe instilling these values of selflessness and generosity, and modeling to the students to be altruistic, is a vital part of the students education.

The Middle School students in grades 6-8th are required to complete 20 hours of service work each school year. Parents and teachers must sign off on a service log sheet for the work performed.

In the book A New Generation of Evidence: The Family is Critical to Student Achievement, it states: “when parents are involved in their children’s education at home, they do better in school.  And when parents are involved in school, children go farther in school and the schools they go to are better.”

Your family is an extremely important part of our school community.  For our school community to grow and be a vital part of the community at large we are asking each family to volunteer ten hours to the school and/or church per school year.

Virtus training is required by the Diocese of Gary of all adult volunteers.  Virtus is strongly encouraged of all parents at the outset of their child’s entrance into school as it is required for access to school programs.

Training sessions take place every month at Marquette Catholic High School.
